VOICES SPEAKING TO YOU;
• Voice of God
• Voice of the enemy
• Voice of self
THE VOICE OF GOD
1. God speaks deep in the spirit. One must be in the spirit to hear His voice. (1 Corinthians 6:17)
2. Reflects the character of God. (Exodus 34:6)
3. It build you up with courage and assurance. (Judges 6:15-16)
4. God’s voice talks of peace in two ways
• He produces peace
• He takes peace
1. He speaks to you when you’re seeking Him.
THE VOICE OF THE ENEMY
1. He speaks directly to your soul/mind in your situation. It comes on when you least expect. (Luke 4)
2. He communicates in a sense of urgency and demand. (Proverbs 19:2, 21:5, James 1:5)
3. He communicates despair. He instills fear inside of you by reminding your past failures.. (John 10:10)
4. He tells lies. (John 8:44)
WHAT TO DO
1. Be sober and vigilant. (1 Peter 5:8)
YOUR OWN VOICE
1. Communicates strongly when you’re emotional. When wounded, angry, excited, etc. “Don’t make a lifetime decision when you’re emotional. ”
2. Filter your thoughts with the word of God. (Proverbs 3:5-6, 1 Peter 1:13)
WHAT BLOCKS THE VOICE OF GOD FROM REACHING US
1. Offence. (James 1:20)
2. Once you make your own decision without acknowledging God first.
3. Seeking God’s endorsement. (1 Samuel 13:8-12)
TO CONSISTENTLY HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD, WHAT YOU SHOULD DO?
• Establish a genuine relationship with God.
• Align your will with the Lord’s.
• Confirm every matter with the word of God.
• Seek godly counsel with the men of God.
