Faith – Bible Study

Hebrews 11.1, Romans 10:17

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1

Faith is trusting God and His Word even when we cannot see the outcome. It is believing that God is faithful and that His promises are true.

HOW FAITH COMES

1. By hearing the Word of God — Romans 10:17

Faith grows as we hear, read, and meditate on God’s Word.

2. Through conviction

Faith gives us the confidence to trust God even when circumstances look difficult.

LEVELS OF FAITH

1. Low faith — When fear causes us to struggle to trust God. (Mark 4:40)

2. Little faith — When circumstances overwhelm us and create doubt. (Matthew 8:26; 14:31)

3. Mustard-seed faith — Even small faith in a great God can accomplish great things. (Matthew 17:20)

4. Growing faith — Faith develops as we continually trust and depend on God. (2 Thessalonians 1:3)

5. Great faith — Faith that remains steadfast despite difficult circumstances. (Matthew 8:10; 15:28)

6. The measure of faith — God has given every believer a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3)

WHY DO WE NEED FAITH?

• For salvation — Ephesians 2:8

• To please God — Hebrews 11:6

• As a shield against the enemy — Ephesians 6:16

• To live and persevere — Hebrews 10:38

• To walk by faith, not by sight — 2 Corinthians 5:7

• To receive and hold onto God’s promises — Hebrews 6:12
