Name Above all names

 (Acts 3:1-7, 4:1-3,7-12.)

• Names carry a central theme in the bible and in the spiritual realm

• In the spiritual realm everything is named whether it be good or bad.

• It is an identity in the natural and spiritual realm.

A name carries;

1) Identity

2) Character

3) Destiny

Isaiah 43:1 – “I know you by name…”

Luke 22:31 – :Simon.. satan has asked of you that he may sift you like wheat…”

• every encounter of God and man we see a shift in names..e.g Abram to Abraham, Saul to Paul.

The man at the beautiful gate ;

1. Had an inherited problem. ( he was born lame)

2. Existed as a burden to his family. (someone had to carry him and place him somewhere to ask for alms)

3. He suffered stagnation. (was always placed at the same place everyday)

• His identity had become so defined by his condition that Scripture simply referred to him as “a lame man.” His affliction overshadowed his name.

• However, when Peter declared, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk,” everything changed. Strength entered his feet, he stood, walked, leaped, and praised God.

The name of Jesus;

1. Carries power for life. (John 20:31)

2. Is the medicine. (James 5:14)

3. Is a weapon against the devil. (Philippians 2:20)

4. Forgives and sanctifies. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

5. Is a refuge. (Proverbs 18:20)

6. Brings divine help. (Psalms 124:8), (Joel 2:32)

7. Opens us to miracles.

• Though surrounded by opposition, victory comes through the name of the Lord. No enemy can prevail against those who stand in His name. (Psalms 118:10-12)

Romans 10:13 -This is God’s invitation to all people. The name of Jesus is available to everyone who believes. It is the name above every sickness, every challenge, every power of darkness, and every other name.
